Psychologists must renew their licenses on a schedule set by the psychology licensing boards to maintain a license to practice. The largest proportion of respondents (57%) require licenses to be renewed every two years.
Inactive Licenses
Approximately 66% of respondents provide for an inactive license status. A psychologist who holds an inactive license may not practice psychology but may continue to use the title “psychologist”. A psychologist who holds an inactive license continues to be subject to the statutes and rules/regulations of the psychology licensing board.
